Clothes Drive 2008 / 2009
In August 2008, Vimba was kindly offered space in a container bound for Zimbabwe. Seizing the opportunity, Vimba set up dates and collection points across South West London where clothes, toys and blankets could be dropped off .It was Vimba’s hope that these clothes could then be delivered through our contacts to worthy causes in Zimbabwe. We were completely overwhelmed with the response and the sheer volume of donations that we received - a true indication of people’s commitment to help Zimbabwe. The clothes were then sorted into male / female / age categories and packaged. It was then collected by our contact and packed ready for shipment.
After a sizeable delay, we are very excited to announce that the goods have finally arrived in Zim and this is what our contact had to say in an email to the team:
"Currently out in Zimbabwe. I am pleased to say that the container shipment
arrived safely last week much to the delight of the staff here at Luck
Street, singing and prayers were loudly expressed :-)
...we have uploaded a couple of pictures on our website news page.
On behalf of everyone here please pass on our thanks to everyone connected
with the donation and Vimba generally."
