Housebuild for Vimba July 2009

Our Cape Town representative, Elise Farley and some of her friends took part in a housebuild project on the 25 July, in a township near Bellville (Cape Town) in aid of the Niall Melon Township Trust. The day was extremely well organised and was enjoyed by all.

“We all met at a central point in Pinelands and were then transported by bus to the location, where we were welcomed by a wonderful choir from one of the local schools. We broke up into groups, gathered our tools and made our way to our respective sites.

Some people were painting, some were building the inside walls, and others were putting the finishing touches on completed houses in preparation for handing them over to their new owners. My group was building the inside walls and so I really learnt a lot and can now say I actually know what to do with a spirit level and know how to make walls!

We had tremendous amounts of fun and met many new people!”  - Elise Farley

The next housebuild is taking place on 19th December in accordance with Greater Good South Africa's National Do It Day!
