Payroll Giving FAQ's
It’s your chance to help support our work to end poverty by regularly donating money from your salary. This type of donation is commonly known as Payroll Giving. And because it’s tax free your gift will go further.
How does it work?
You will need to fill out our form to sign up to Vimba at Work. We’ll then pass on your details to the relevant Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) who will do all of the necessary administration work with your employer to set up your regular gift. So you don’t have to inform your employer about your gift to us, it will all be sorted out for you. This usually takes a bit of time so don’t worry if your donation doesn’t come out of your next pay packet.
What if my employer doesn’t offer Payroll Giving?
You could download our Vimba at Work pack and give it to someone in your payroll department to see if they would consider setting up the scheme. Alternatively, you could make a regular contribution to Vimba by direct debit.
How will I know if I’m eligible to join a scheme?
You’ll be eligible if you’re an employee or a pensioner and your employer deducts Pay As You Earn tax from your salary or pension.
Why is regular giving important?
Regular giving is the best way to support Vimba. It lets us plan our work more effectively: to help people to improve their lives through long-term development programmes, so we can respond to disasters and emergencies, and campaign to achieve lasting change. It also means we have a flexible and reliable income we can always count on.
What will my money be spent on?
Your support will help us in the fight to end poverty wherever the need is greatest. This might include providing clean and safe drinking water for communities, building schools, responding to disasters and emergencies around the world, or helping families to grow enough food to eat and earn a living.
How much should I give?
You can give however much you’d like; it’s entirely up to you. Remember, payroll donations are before tax so they really are the most efficient way to donate.
What if my circumstances change?
You can change the amount you give or stop donating at any time. If you move job and want to continue supporting our work you’ll need to sign up for Vimba at Work with your new employer.
What happens when I sign up and submit my information?
You’ll receive a bounce back email to confirm that we’ve received your details. Your information will then be passed onto the relevant Payroll Giving Agency and to your employer so that your regular donation can be set up.
What will you do with my personal details?
Vimba will need to share your personal details with the relevant Payroll Giving Agency and your employer, but we’ll only use your contact details again if you opt to receive further communications from us. We will not pass your details onto anyone else.
