DELIVERY OF FOOD PACKS TO MUTOKO

On a recent trip home to Zimbabwe, one of our trustees Shay Thompson decided to go on a mission for Vimba and find the most worthy projects Vimba could support. She visited many families in rural areas, sharing stories with some of the poorest communities in Zimbabwe. The resounding plea was for food to feed their children. Below is Shay’s report on her visit to the area in November 2008, followed by an account of the delivery of food to this suffering region in Zimbabwe. Turner and Townsend’s donation to Vimba made it possible to feed whole villages of people, we would like to thank them on behalf of all those who received this food on 29th January 2009 - it is through their kindness that so much suffering and starvation has been prevented.

We owe a great debt to Claire Thompson our contact in Zimbabwe, who selflessly bought, packed, transported and delivered this food to a remote and very dangerous part of the country. Claire has worked tirelessly for over 6 months to make this project a success. Vimba would like to personally thank her for her efforts and her inspirational dedication to help Zimbabweans who are suffering. She has written to us with her own vivid account of the day (please see below). In addition Vimba would like to thank Bruce Thompson, Kit De Witt and Neil for assisting with the distribution and being such wonderful Vimba representatives.
